We butchered a steer Monday, so there’s heart, tongue, and fresh liver this week. I gave the tail away, so another family will be having ox-tail stew.

Dinner veggies: I wasn’t feeling very imaginative this week, so every child was assigned the task of choosing our dinner vegetable one day. When it’s time to prepare the meal, I send the appropriate child to select a veggie. #4 has to be reminded that catsup is not a vegetable; everyone else does a pretty good job.
